Foundation of GANS
On February 13, 2020, neurosurgeons in Goa advanced the field of neurosurgery by forming the Goa Association of Neurological Surgeons (GANS). This association aims to disseminate the latest global practices among doctors in Goa and raise public awareness about prevention of head injuries and seeking early help in neurological diseases.

Structure of GANS
Dr. V.N. Jindal, former Dean and Head of the Department of Neurosurgery at Goa Medical College (GMC), led the inaugural GANS, supported by a team of notable neurosurgeons from Goa namely the executive committee including Dr. A.S. Netalkar as Secretary, Dr. Jorson D. Costa as Treasurer, and Dr. Ponraj Sundaram and Dr. Jinendra Kumar as executive members. Currently, GANS has nearly 20 members and encourages neurosurgeons of Goan origin and other interested professionals to join.

Aims & Objectives
of GANS
GANS aspires to be a knowledge hub for neurosurgeons in Goa, facilitating the sharing and discussion of the latest surgical procedures and offering training on new operating techniques. The association organises conferences by inviting specialists from across India and abroad to share their expertise with other Neurosurgeons under the scientific umbrella. Additionally, GANS also hosts periodic Continued Medical Education (CME) programs for postgraduate students to keep them updated on the latest developments in the field. The promotion of research in neurosurgery is also be a priority, aiming to establish Goa as a scientific hub for young Neurosurgeons.
